At Bakri Chhap Agro Tourism and Natural Products Pvt. Ltd. July, 2016, we work with micro-farmers across the country, enabling fair trade prices by directly linking them to retail stores, e-commerce portals and the hospitality industry. We have already collected over 1,26,130 kgs of farm produce from 150 farmers directly & 500+ farmers indirectly across 45+ villages. We work on branding the indigenous produce through marketing collaborations with celebrity chefs, wellness experts and bloggers from metropolitan cities. Our tagline goes as “CHOTE KISANO KA BADA BRAND, Bakri Chhap Agro Tourism and Natural Products Pvt. Ltd.".

Typically, marginal farmers are forced to sell at low rates because once they reach the Mandi, they need to off-load their produce at whatever best rates they can garner on that very day. Our collection centres are at their doorstep, weeding out middlemen from the food supply chain management. This model has created successful Peer to Peer relationships between farmers and hotel owners.

The farm produce that we collect is grown in the traditional way using natural ingredients which are an intrinsic part of the village. It is loaded with antioxidants and minerals as manual farming practices and perennial sources of natural irrigation are followed. Some of them are yet to be certified as 'organic' and are deprived of the premium customer segment that buys 'organic' We enable the farmers who are unaware of the certification process to brand their product, certify, and declare “ORGANIC KA BAAP, Bakri Chhap Agro Tourism and Natural Products Pvt. Ltd.".

We promote regional micro-cuisine and encourage a diversified product portfolio. The Diversified Platter has the usual derivations of wheat and rice paired with almost extinct (Due to lack of a good price and market) food grains and pulses like Mandua, Zhangoora, Gahat, Sunta, Bajranga, Bhatt, Rare Rajma, and so on.

Natural, perhaps better than organic. There are still many villages in Uttarakhand that grow their crops in a traditional way using natural ingredients. These produce that are grown in the pristine climate of the hills, free from pollution and chemicals are perhaps even better than merely being organic. However, they are not “certified organic". Not yet. These farmers would require education, skilling and mandatory paper-work to be stamped Organic. We, at Bakri Chhap Agro Tourism and Natural Products Pvt. Ltd. believe that the gradual journey of these micro farmers towards organic certification will not start with a new-technology laboratory test but with the re-establishment of their faith in their own centuries old traditional craft. By and large, their produce is natural loaded with antioxidants and minerals; owing to the location of fields, manual farming and perennial sources of natural irrigation.

Yet, there is no reason why this largely organic, natural product should not get a premium for what it already is. Bakri Chaap is the pre-cursor (or call it predecessor – therefore baap) to Organic.
